Yet another “blog about blogging”?
I’ve worked in the aid and nonprofit sector for over sixteen years, in a variety of functions, in Africa, South & Central America and Asia. In the past four years, I witnessed the raise of social media as a powerful tool for the advocacy, fundraising, awareness, community building and knowledge sharing. While commercial companies have rapidly embraced social media as a way to communicate with their customers, many nonprofits engage only half-heartedly.
Does the technical challenge make it difficult for them? Is it a lack of staff? Ignorance of the social media scene? Fear of the unknown? In BlogTips, we try to address all of those evils, like Don Quixote chasing imaginary enemies with his wooden sword.
I mostly share my own experiences, my own errors and victories while blogging as a hobby and while using social media in my own nonprofit job. I try to answer questions ,asked by like-minded people I meet, and try to find solutions for challenges they face.
