Google moving towards a monopoly?

Google forces people to use Chrome

A few weeks ago, I reported on the new Blogger user interface, a definitive step forward. But now, Google takes a couple of steps back in my esteem.

I just downloaded the newest version of Opera, one of the browsers I use for web development. And guess what? When using Blogger with Opera, an error message pops up, stating Blogger no longer supports Opera, suggesting to use Chrome, Google’s own browser.

An other, more articulate error message, pops up when accessing the new Blogger dashboard:

blogger error

Apart from the fact that Chrome crashes my computer randomly, this might be the first step in Google tightening its monopoly.

What’s the next step?

How if you could only access Google Docs or Google+ with Chrome?

What if you would only be able to use Google search with a Google Netbook?

How about if Google would stop indexing WordPress blogs, forcing you to move to Blogger?

What if websites would not be browse-able with Chrome unless if they pay an annual fee for an access-key?

Or how about getting serious search-index minus points if you run ads other than AdWords?

How if everyone starts to tighten their empires? Would you accept the fact that Facebook can only be used with Internet Explorer, after a deal between Microsoft and Facebook?

Or if Twitter blocks you when observing you are also using Facebook or Google+?

Google: this is a big #FAIL, in my book. Boooo!
